MAiD at Ten: Lessons from Canada’s First Decade is a two-day conference examining the first decade of Medical Assistance in Dying in Canada. The program brings together researchers, clinicians, ethicists, advocates, and people with lived experience to explore MAiD policy, practice, ethics, and oversight.

Stress-testing Canada’s MAiD oversight architecture: Lessons from one of Canada’s most extensively reviewed and contested MAiD deaths

Drawing on the death of her mother, Donna Duncan, and the investigations and regulatory processes that followed, Alicia will examine what happens when a MAiD death raises questions across multiple parts of the healthcare, regulatory, and legal system, and what her mother’s case reveals about accountability and oversight within Canada’s MAiD framework.
